David Wilkie. Kitchen genre

I bought this painting on Ebay. Wonderfully terrible condition. Badly over-painted, cracked, torn and varnished over tar and other filth. Circa 1810.

I'm trying to track down the artist. I came upon this image which is similar to the woman and man in my painting (artist's used/use familiar motifs gleaned from their sketchbooks and earlier works). The left image is by David Wilkie.

Anyway, I'll be gleaning this for a while so I'll just publish images as and when work has progressed.

Peeling off the lining, reveals canvas-backed vinyl.

First clean and I found the central figure's arm was overpainted. Now repositioned after paint removed.
